Virginia died in Oregon City on Nov. 23, 2014, and was buried at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Virginia was born to Chester and Earline Meeks in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on May 1,1933. She moved with her family to Kalispell in 1945.  

In 1953 she married Jack vanderEnde, and they had two daughters, Jackie and Leah. Jack was killed in a car accident in 1960. She married Don Broomfield in 1964, and they had one son, Tom, in 1971.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sister Lolita Reynolds. 

Virginia is survived by her children, Jackie vanderEnde of Garibaldi, Oregon, Leah and Dan Benesch of Lakeside, Tom and Debbie Broomfield of Oregon City, Oregon, and three stepchildren. Local survivors are sisters Louise and Gene Smith and Iva and Ken Pedersen; brother, Chester and Donna Meeks; and nephew Jerry and Sabrina Reynolds. She is also survived by sister Rebecca and Clyde Saylor of Portland; Rena and Larry Lautaret, and Luke Lautaret and his daughter Efia; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
