ROYAL CITY - The Royal High School students of the month for November have been announced by counselor Mark Kondo.

They are freshman Leslie Moreno-Ramirez, Sophomore Adriana Mayorga, junior Jessenia Hernandez and senior Hugo Mata.

They were selected by the teaching staff off of a list of nominations compiled by Kondo.

Mata is the son of Hugo and Elda Mata. His favorite subject in school is AP Physics. His favorite movie is Fast and Furious 6, and he likes CSI on TV.

Mata will eat anything with noodles, and he likes working on cars and spending time with friends. His inspiration is Paul Walker, who encouraged him to develop a passion for cars.

"Either you run the day or the day runs you," is Mata's favorite saying.

Hernandez is the daughter of Martin and Griselda Hernandez. She likes Hunger Games, English class and Spongebob.

With Christmas coming on, Hernandez is reminded that tamales are her favorite food. For exercise and leisure, she loves to play soccer.

"My cousin Tony inspired me because he told me to never give up, to always try my best in life, no matter what," she said.

Mayorga's parents are Antonio and Maria Mayorga. Her favorite subjects are pre-calculus and clothing and textiles.

Mayorga likes the movie The Perks Of Being a Wildflower and the TV show The Vampires, all while eating Nuttela and Ritz crackers.

Mayorga believes "Nothing holds you back more than your own insecurities."

"My parents are my inspiration because of their hard work and the struggles they've overcome to support our family," she said.

Ramirez's parents are Florentina and Imbert Moreno. She loves being a member of the Royal High Chamber Choir. The Christmas Kiss is her favorite movie.

Ramirez's favorite foods are tamales, candy canes and fries. "Fries before guys" is her favorite saying.

Ramirez enjoys swimming and loves cross country, saying: "Mr. Orth, Mr. Roberts and Mrs. Eilers inspire me because they never gave up on me and pushed me to do my best."
