The Columbia Falls boys swim team had a solid performance at the Great Falls High School’s relay meet Dec. 20.

The Wildcats took seventh overall with 40 points. The girls did not compete due to illness, coach Mike Nelson said.

The meet did not have an individual races — it was all relays.

The Cats took sixth in the 200-yard medley at 2:00.70, with Zayne Friar, Colton Babcock, Jacob Hohman and Kaleb Bagley.

They took sixth in the 200-yard backstroke relay, the 400-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle, with times of 2:08.42, 3:53.09 and 1:45.67 respectively. They placed ninth in the 200 butterfly relay at 2:02.42.

This swimming season will bring some tough competition — the Cats are up against Class AA schools every week.

“We had all swimmers compete in every relay,” Nelson said. “It was nice for us coaches to see how the swimmers would perform in every event.”

The Cats are close to home next month with a meet at the Summit Medical Fitness Center in Kalispell on Jan. 10. Racing starts at 11 a.m.
