Mary Ann Novak, 86, passed away on Dec. 23, 2014.
Mary Ann was born to Anna and Anton Hedrlin on Dec. 28, 1927, in Chicago, Ill. She grew up in Cicero, Ill., and graduated from Morton High School. She then worked as a comptometer operator until her marriage to Laddie John Novak on Jan. 24, 1948.
Mary Ann and John made their home in Crystal Lake, Ill., where Mary Ann raised four of her five children. In October of 1964, John and Mary Ann moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where their fifth child was born.
Mary Ann enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to a bowling league. She was secretary of her TOPS group, and active in her Birthday Club and Catholic Daughters groups. She loved fashion and was always dressed in style.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Laddie John Novak; and her two sisters, Clare Jelinek and Mildred Hedrlin. She is survived by her five children - Nancy (Gary) Haler, Linda (Jerry) Mayer, Connie (Tom) Dunn, John (Renee) Novak, and Bill (Dawn) Novak. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren - Kevin (Jacqualine) Haler, Brian (Rebekah) Haler, Stephen (Jennifer) Haler, Sean (Alicia) Haler, Amy Mayer, Jerome Mayer, Angela (Doug) Taes, Keenan Novak, Gabriel Novak, Taten Novak, Addy Harris-Novak, and Cruz Harris-Novak; as well as 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene. Interment will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.
