PLAINS – On the morning of New Year’s Eve, the High Plains Saloon on East Railroad Avenue in Plains was robbed.

The incident took place around 10:20 a.m., and according to owner of the High Plains, Ronna LaPierre, over $5,000 in cash was stolen.

LaPierre stated the bartender on duty had opened the safe for the deposit and quickly went to check the bathrooms to ensure they were clean when the money was stolen.

According to LaPierre, over $6,000 in cash and checks were on the bar during the robbery.

Security footage from the establishment’s cctv cameras showed an unidentified male individual walking into the bar, taking the cash and leaving the establishment.

None of the checks were taken during the incident.
