Hellgate beats Bravettes for 1st Western AA win

MISSOULA — Missoula Hellgate gained a five-point edge on Flathead in the second quarter and outscored the Bravettes 17-13 in the fourth quarter to claim a 51-44 Western AA girls basketball victory on Saturday.

Lexi Duce scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Hellgate (4-8 overall, 1-4 league). Kylie McWilliams was next in scoring for the Knights with 11 points.

Jenessa Heine finished with a double-double for Flathead (3-9, 0-4) with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Emma Andrews added 11 points for the Bravettes.

Hellgate was 20 of 36 free throw shooting to Flathead’s 13 of 26.

There were 50 fouls in the game and four players fouled out — two on each side.

Flathead hosts Helena Capital on Friday in Western AA play.
