PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Naccarato sparks Viks to victory at Moscow

MOSCOW - Tony Naccarato had 19 points and six rebounds to lead the Coeur d'Alene Vikings past the Moscow Bears 66-54 in a nonleague game on Saturday night at Bear Den.

"Moscow is just a tough place to get a win," Coeur d'Alene coach Kurt Lundblad said. "We played a lot better than we did on Tuesday at Lakeland, and now we can get back to playing Viking basketball."

Justin Carpenter scored 17 points, Colby Daniels 13 points and Devin Kluss had seven rebounds for Coeur d'Alene (12-3), which hosts Lewiston in a 5A Inland Empire League game on Tuesday.

Nick Ellison scored 27 points for Moscow (5-8), which travels to Lakeland on Tuesday.

BONNERS FERRY - Josh Pluid and Kyler Rice scored 13 points each as the host Badgers moved into a first-place tie with the Tigers in the Intermountain League.

"It was a pretty even all game long," Timberlake coach Tony Hanna said. "It wasn't just one guy for them tonight, they just outhustled us and had guys step up."

Austin Allen hit four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for Timberlake (5-10, 3-1 IML), which hosts Lakeland on Thursday.

Bonners Ferry improves to 6-6, 3-1.

ST. MARIES - Jesse Lambert's two free throws with 14 seconds left gave the visiting Wildcats a four-point lead, enough to withstand a late 3-pointer by the Lumberjacks in the Brawl for the Ball spirit game.

"We ran out of time," St. Maries coach John Bisson said. "We dug ourselves a hole. They shot 80 percent from the free-throw line and we shot 20 percent, 4 for 20. We're like a Hack-a-Jack (Lumberjack). We couldn't make a free throw."

Tucker Gust scored 12 points and Lambert added 10 points for Kellogg (9-5). Heath Waechter, in his first game after undergoing shoulder surgery during football season, grabbed six rebounds.

Leighton Gertje scored 13 points for the Lumberjacks (6-7). Logan Feasline had 11 points and 14 rebounds.

St. Maries plays Tuesday at Coeur d'Alene Charter in Central Idaho League play. Kellogg plays host to St. Maries on Friday.

HARRISON FLATS - Morgan Willms, Anthony Ausman and Jake Pfeiffer each had solid games in the Warriors' North Star League rout of the visiting Wampus Cats.

"We got off to a pretty good start," Kootenai coach Doug Napierala said. "We were up 8-0 and we played some really good defense and did a good job on the boards. We limited them to one shot (per possession) pretty well."

Willms scored 17 points and had four rebounds and three steals for Kootenai (7-7, 3-2 NSL). Ausman scored 12 points and had seven rebounds, and Pfeiffer finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Geoff Boudousquie scored six points and Jaden Taylor had five assists for Clark Fork (4-11, 1-5), which travels to the Bonners Ferry JV on Tuesday.

Kootenai hosts Coeur d'Alene Charter on Thursday.
