TAXES: Free help at your service

Taxpayers of all ages who need help with their federal and state taxes may utilize the very reliable free service provided by the AARP Tax-Aide program. Membership with AARP is not required. Those low to moderate incomes who do not have to file are eligible for the grocery credit and must file for it. The service starts Feb. 1 at the Silverlake Mall.

Walk-ins — Silverlake Mall: Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., extended hours to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays;

Please bring last year’s return, W-2s, unemployment compensation statements, all 1099s, all forms about dependent care, all information for itemizing, Social Security cards for all family members, and a photo ID for the filer.
