Runnin' Vikes struggle against Yaks on road

YAKIMA - Big Bend Community College Runnin' Vikes (4-4, 15-7) dropped its second straight Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges East region game.
Sophomore guard Brendan Westendorf scored 38 points, but the rest of the Vikes combined for 40 and the team fell to Yakima Valley, 78-102.
Along with a game-high 38 points, Westendorf added 10 rebounds and one two assists.
Freshman forward Richard Black was the only other Vike in double figures with 12 points. Sophomore guard Victor Aguero added seven points.
The team will look to rebound at home against Treasure Valley Feb. 7.
Lady Vikings outlast Yaks
Big Bend (4-4, 14-8) ended its three-game losing streak with a 71-67 win over Yakima Valley.
The Vikings outrebounded the Yaks 43-40, led by sophomore forward Jessica Sorensen's double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman guard/forward Riley Jemmett scored a team-high 20 points and fellow freshman Aubrie Vale added 15 points.
Big Bend returns home Feb. 7 against Treasure Valley.
