Youth skiers make podium in blizzard conditions

Five local alpine ski racers produced excellent results in blizzard conditions at the Youth Ski League slaloms held at Red Lodge Jan. 25-26.
Skiers were challenged with a long slalom course and variable conditions. While Saturday was warm and sunny, Sunday was a full on winter storm.
The strong contingent of U12 boys from Whitefish Mountain Resort raced to top finishes.
On top of the podium Saturday was Colter Upton. Rayce Neill skied strongly ending in second place.
In blizzard conditions on Sunday, three Whitefish boys swept the podium. Upton again placed first, followed by Neill in second and rising speedster Tyler Anderson in third.
Also racing was William Lewison in the U12 group placing 10th on Sunday. Tess Lewison placed 10th and seventh in U10 girls.
Next up for the team is slalom races at Great Divide Feb.15-16.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue
Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg will attend a public rally in Whitefish on Nov. 10 in support of the World War II statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. Rehberg will be at the VFW Post 276 on Baker Avenue at 1 p.m.
