Warden takes SCAC East

WARDEN - The Warden Cougars took the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) East by storm this season.

The Cougars finished first with an undefeated league record of 5-0 and 13-1 overall. The team's only loss came during the first week of the season against undefeated Granger, 31-42.

According to Washington Wrestling Report, Warden is currently ranked eighth in the state in 1A with 80 points. The team also has eight wrestlers ranked in state for their respective weight class.

Jesus Dominguez (106 .lbs) is currently ranked third in state after finished fifth last season at the Mat Classic in Tacoma. Ramses Rodelo (132 .lbs) is ranked sixth in state after placing eighth last season.

Emilio Pruneda (145 .lbs) is ranked third overall.

Since falling to Granger, the Cougars have rattled off 12 wins in a row, including a 42-31 victory over Quincy. The Cougars also scored crucial wins against league opponents Connell, Royal and Kiona-Benton.

Warden was also successful in tournament play, taking first place in three and second and third in two others. For the 1A classification, the Cougars also placed first at the Dream Duals tournament.

Warden will host the SCAC East District Tournament Feb. 8
