COEUR d’ALENE — The Kootenai County Public Defender’s Office and the prosecutor’s office were put on lockdown Thursday morning following a death threat.

According to Mark Durant, an investigator at the public defender’s office, police are attempting to locate the man who threatened to kill prosecutors, public defenders and law enforcement officers.

Durant said the police know who the individual is, and they are searching for him at two residences. They are also looking for his blue and white Ford pickup truck.

The suspect, who Durant declined to identify, reportedly has mental health issues.

Employees at the public defender’s office and the prosecutor’s office have been instructed not to leave their workplace unless it is absolutely necessary.

Those who must leave the office are required to have security escorts.
