A 27-year-old Kalispell man was in critical condition in the Kalispell Regional Medical Center Friday night with an unknown prognosis after a stabbing in Evergreen.

According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, the man was stabbed multiple times by a 28-year-old man, also of Kalispell, during an altercation outside of a South Cedar Drive home shortly after 6 p.m.

The victim was found on the ground, unconscious. Curry noted that responding EMTs were so busy working on him that a deputy drove the ambulance to the hospital.

As of 9:20 p.m., the victim was undergoing surgery but had still not regained consciousness at any point. His prognosis was unknown.

The suspect was located at another house a short distance from the crime scene and taken into custody, and several witnesses were brought in for interviews.
