ROYAL CITY - January 20-24 was 'No Name Calling Week' at schools across the country. According to Counselor Nicole Schwartz. Red Rock Elementary started by having a guidance lesson the week of Jan. 13-17.

Teachers taught about the importance of 'No Name Calling Week', with a primary focus on Kindness. All students participated in a brainstorming discussion on acts of kindness.

Students in grades 3-5 wrote their ideas on construction paper flower petals. Schwartz then made a Garden of Kindness bulletin board at the entrance of the school.

Jan. 23 was Hawaiian Day, with students and staff wearing Hawaiian related clothing. It was also the day of the school's monthly awards assembly. Students were given awards for the month of January for the character trait of self-control.
