Looking good, feeling good

Health and beauty will be the theme for this week as we survey four new businesses in Sunset Village (on Sunset Avenue just east of Highway 95) and Harbor Plaza (Hubbard Avenue just off Northwest Boulevard).
Hair Extension shop opens
"What on Earth is this (bald) guy doing in here?" was what any onlookers no doubt thought as I slipped into The Hair Extension Shop in Suite 21 of Sunset Village.
This place offers 100 percent human hair by Hair Couture and Elegante through clip-ins, tape-ins, I-tips and eye lashes. Mary Murdock and Tami Ouren also offer spirit colors for all schools, natural spray tans and fashion jewelry.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 to 4 Saturdays. Phone 704-1905, email thehairext.shop@hotmail.com and follow on Facebook.
Live Well next door
At 6-foot and 145 pounds, I also didn't exactly fit the prime customer mode of Live Well CDA next door in Suite 20.
Ami Higbee and three part-time coaches offer a nutritional approach to wellness and weight loss. The foundation of the Live Well program is Ideal Protein, a medically designed weight-loss method used by Olympic athletes. The method has helped more than 600 people reach their weight-loss goals since 2010, said Higbee, who has a bachelor's degree in nursing.
The hours are Tuesday through Thursday and Mondays and Fridays by appointment. Phone 930-4960. Check www.livewellus.com.
Haircuts, tattoos at Thin Line
Tim Mitchell and Mike (Mizzy) Burgess offer haircuts and tattoos in their A Thin Line Barbershop in Suite 106 of Harbor Plaza.
Cuts and styles for men of all ethnicities are the specialty of Mitchell, who graduated from Total Cosmetology Barber College. He's also looking for a helper.
Insured and certified in Bloodborne Pathogens Training, Burgess has two years tattoo experience and apprenticed under Pauli Wesslemann at Pauli's Tattoos.
Shop hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Contact Mitchell at 292-4463 and check A Thin Line Barbershop on Facebook. Phone Burgess at 704-6079.
Now for the Tidbits
- Schmidty's Burgers may open later this week at 206 N. Fourth St. We'll have details next Sunday. And details on The Fork at Lakeside should be the following week. We're also watching something happening in the Sherman Avenue building that used to have Jonesy's Cafe.
- How about those Seahawks! The game was great to watch, and the best commercials were by Doritos.
- Thanks to the folks who keep their leading-to-school and commercial sidewalks clear.
- Although both "adviser" and "advisor" are correct, "adviser" is preferred.
- A dentist and manicurist couple fought tooth and nail.
- From a church bulletin: "The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious hostility."
