Attempted robbery suspect sought

COEUR d'ALENE - An attempted armed robbery occurred in the 1200 block of Sherman Avenue in downtown Coeur d'Alene late Saturday night.

Coeur d'Alene Police officers responded to an attempted armed robbery report at 10:19 p.m. A male and female were walking east on Sherman Avenue when the suspect approached them and brandished a handgun, demanding money. The male and female got away and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as being a white male, 6 feet tall, wearing baggy jeans, a dark blue sweatshirt and red ball cap. If anyone has any information regarding this crime, contact the Coeur d'Alene Police at 769-2320.

Pischner files to begin bid for county clerk

COEUR d'ALENE - Don Pischner last week filed documents to appoint a campaign treasurer and begin raising money for a run for Kootenai County clerk.

"It's a position I've always been interested in," Pischner, of Harrison, said. "This would be a good time for me."

Pischner lost a 2002 bid for a fifth term in the state House when he was beat in the Republican primary by Charles Eberle.

Pischner can't file his notice of candidacy until March.

Lookout Pass closed for chair lift repairs

MULLAN - Lookout Pass is closed today while one of its chair lifts is being repaired.

According to www.skilookout.com, the electric motor in Chair 1 lost a copper field Saturday and is being rebuilt. The ski mountain was closed Sunday, but is expected to reopen in time for Powder Wednesday.
