Rash of car break-ins reported Monday

Monday, Feb. 3

7:27 a.m. The passenger window of a luxury vehicle was busted out on Hazel Place. A purse and wallet were missing.

8:52 a.m. The window of a SUV was smashed out on Skyles Place. A purse was stolen.

9:45 a.m. Report of a vehicle broken into on Iowa Avenue.

1:17 p.m. A Wisconsin Avenue resident asked police if she was allowed to shoot a young German shepherd that was chasing deer. She was advised not to shoot the dog.

2:41 p.m. Report of a woman who was punched in the face at a bar downtown.

5:30 p.m. Report of a smashed vehicle window on Iowa Avenue. A purse was stolen.

Tuesday, Feb. 4

11 a.m. Suspicious activity was reported at doctor’s office on East 2nd Street. A stack of faxes were rummaged though and scribbled on.

11:31 p.m. Report of shots heard on West 8th Street. Barking dogs went quiet after the shots were heard.

Wednesday, Feb. 5

11:51 a.m. Report of a man with no shirt outside near East 4th Street. He was taken to the hospital.

12 p.m. Report of a vicious dog growling at people inside an office on Colorado Avenue. The pitbull was sitting outside of the office when the reporting caller threw food at the dog to try and get it to come inside. The dog owner was contacted and a citation was issued for having a dog at large.

Thursday, Feb. 6

9:34 a.m. A resident reported receiving death threats on his phone.

11:03 a.m. Two middle school students were caught with Gatorade bottles containing alcohol.

Friday, Feb. 7

8:53 a.m. Several businesses on Spokane Avenue were egged.

10:11 a.m. A driver swerved to avoid another vehicle in his path and ended up in a yard on West 3rd Street.

1:14 p.m. Report of stolen skis and a snowboards on Baker Avenue.

6:57 p.m. A suspicious boy kept asking a gas station clerk if he could take photos of the cash register and money safe. He said it was for a school project. The boy said his dad kept sending him into the store.

Saturday, Feb. 8

12:55 a.m. A man offered an intoxicated woman a ride home, but he couldn’t find her house.

1:37 a.m. Four men were seen using drugs at a laundry mat on U.S. 93 South.

2:11 a.m. Three intoxicated men were trying to break into their own home.

2:39 a.m. Report of an intoxicated man who punched a woman on Central Avenue.

9:45 a.m. Report of a stolen vehicle on Fairway Drive.

5:30 p.m. Report of a woman with about $500 worth of stolen merchandise at a store downtown.

6:31 p.m. Report of a jack-knifed fuel tanker on West 13th Street.

7:51 p.m. A disorderly man was being aggressive at a bar downtown.

11:42 p.m. A tow truck driver refused to jump a woman’s vehicle who was reportedly too drunk to drive. She was advised to find another ride.

Sunday, Feb. 9

5:40 p.m. Report of an injured turkey in a parking lot on U.S. 93 West. Police found the turkey up and moving around.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue

Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg will attend a public rally in Whitefish on Nov. 10 in support of the World War II statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. Rehberg will be at the VFW Post 276 on Baker Avenue at 1 p.m.

Sled Dog Days pints for a purpose

Flathead Sled Dog Days is gearing up for its fifth annual dog sled race Jan. 6-8. Race organizers have partnered with the Whitefish Winter Carnival to become part of their festivities next month.
