Coeur d'Alene police have identified a Post Falls man as a suspect in connection with an attempted robbery that occurred in the 1200 block of Sherman Avenue late Saturday night.

According to Sgt. Christie Wood, investigators would like to speak with Joseph Broadsword, 27, about the incident. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest Tuesday afternoon, with a bond amount of $100,000.

At 10:19 p.m. Saturday, a male and female were walking on Sherman Avenue when a man approached them. The man brandished a handgun and demanded money from the couple.

The couple was able to get away and the suspect fled on foot.

Broadsword is set to be arraigned Friday in Kootenai County District Court on a felony rape charge.

Wood encouraged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Broadsword to contact police at (208)769-2320 or policetips@cdaid.org.
