February is Children's Dental Month
From the Columbia Basin Health Association | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 11 years, 10 months AGO
MATTAWA - "Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums," Dr. Alvin Thien, Columbia Basin Health Association (CBHA) Dental Director, said.
To that end, CBHA is having a photo contest. You are invited to visit the CBHA face book page and upload your favorite, funniest or craziest dental related photo of your kids.
Then share with your friends to obtain the most votes. The winning entry will receive a $50 Subway gift card.
Dr. Thien recommends that parents teach their children to brush at least two times a day for two minutes each time.
Kids can be taught a catchy two-minute song to hum while they brush to make sure they get their full two minutes in.
Other common sense measures include healthy snacks after school, water and/or milk instead of soda pop and a diet loaded with fruits and vegetables.
