RITZVILLE - Ritzville School District patrons easily passed a two-year maintenance and operations levy request in a special election Tuesday.

In unofficial results, district patrons cast 474 yes votes to 223 no votes, 68 percent approving. Levy measures must receive a bare majority, 50 plus one, to pass.

The levy will generate $983,000 per year, Lind-Ritzville Superintendent Rob Roettger said. Property owners will pay an estimated $3.14 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

Ritzville district patrons are "really good about supporting kids," Roettger said, and he expressed gratitude for that support.
