MOSES LAKE - With only three games remaining in the regular season three teams are vying for the last two playoff spots in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) East region.
Big Bend women's basketball (6-5, 16-9) sits in third place, holding a narrow half game advantage over Blue Mountain and an one game advantage over Spokane.
The Lady Vikings, who boast the sixth best scoring offense in the NWAACC, must win two of their final three games to clinch a spot in the postseason.
The team hosts second place Walla Walla (9-2, 15-7) Saturday at 2 p.m. in a game that has major playoff implications. The Warriors defeated Big Bend, 82-71, Jan. 25. However, Big Bend has been formidable at the DeVries Activity Center, losing only once to No. 1 ranked Columbia Basin.
The Lady Vikings must stymie the Warriors' Bailey Nygaard, the sixth best scorer in the East region, for a chance at the victory.
The Big Bend Runnin' Vikes (7-4, 18-7) will also face Walla Walla Saturday at 4 p.m.
Behind 28 points from sophomore guard Brendan Westendorf, Big Bend was able to win on the road against the Warriors, 94-86.
A win Saturday is crucial for the team to have a chance at an East region title.
