Rollie Lee Mort, 71, of Post Falls, ID passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at the Hospice House in Hayden, ID.
Rollie was born on April 23, 1942, in Twin Falls, ID to Keith and Bonnita Mort. He graduated in 1961 from Grand Coulee High School, in Grand Coulee, Wash. He relocated to Coeur d'Alene, where he worked for Northwest Timber Industries until it closed, and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union until he retired. He married Wilma Wood Montgomery on September 2,1983.
Rollie had a passion for the outdoors, especially hunting, camping, mountain drives and huckleberry picking. One of his favorite spots was the St. Joe River, where he enjoyed fishing and giving swimming lessons. He liked riding his ATV, photography, sports and cooking. He particularly loved watching Gonzaga Basketball and the Seattle Seahawks. Rollie also had a weakness for recycling scrap metal, garage sales, and finding a good deal.
Rollie’s love for his family and friends was overwhelmingly obvious. He will always be remembered as a selfless man who put the needs of others before his own. He enjoyed attending church, and was very involved in the bus ministry with Faith Tabernacle Church.
Rollie was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Bonnita Mort; his brothers, Rick and Terry Mort; step-daughter, Rebecca McCorkle; and grandson, Nakita Vann.
Rollie is survived by his wife, Wilma; seven children: Terrie Lynn Gonzales, Shirleen (Kurt) Jacobs, Cheri Vann, Tim (Angela) Mort, Jeremy (Kelly) Mort, Josh (Jessica) Mort, and stepson, Frank (Jessica) Montgomery; 21 grandchildren: Taylor Rae, Dodge, Luke, and Eli Gonzales; Jordin and Brayden Jacobs; Damon and Brenden Mort; Maurice Vann; Lance and Callie Mort; Tori (Ty) Spinella; Cohen and Camden Mort; Ryan (Sarah) Rickel; Jessica (Rory) Lapka; Gwyneth, Lincoln, Winston, Bronwyn, and Evelyn Montgomery; and eight great grandchildren: SaNyah Mort, Millie Vann, Ayla, Declan, Cato, and Roan Rickel, Samuel and Joseph Lapka; two brothers: Royce (Coleen), and Larry Mort; sister, Kaye Banker; uncle, Rick (Diane) Eppers; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
His family invites you to a celebration of his life from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Faith Ministries Church, 5703 E. 16th St., Post Falls, ID. You are invited to join the Mort Family for fellowship and lunch at the church following the service.
