Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 2 months AGO
Denise Faye Leist Bell, 63, of Coeur d’Alene, ID passed away February 15, 2014, at Hospice House in Hayden, ID surrounded by her family.
Denise was born September 7, 1950, to Delmar and Norma Leist in Monrovia, Calif. She grew up in Monrovia, and graduated from Monrovia High School.
It was in Monrovia where Denise was introduced to David Bell. They married November 4, 1969, in Pasadena, Calif., settled in Monrovia, and had two daughters. Denise was dedicated to her family and raising her children. In 1993, the family moved to Coeur d’Alene.
Denise enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved being a grandmother, and cherished her visits with her grandchildren. She always made sure every spring to plant plenty of colorful flowers to enjoy throughout the summer. During her time in Idaho, she and her beloved dog, Bailey, began competing in dog agility. Her patience and training earned Bailey a place in the AKC top 10 in dog agility in 2003, 2005, and 2006.
Denise was loved beyond measure by her family and friends. Her unwavering support, patience, and genuine kindness will live on in those whose lives she touched.
Denise was preceded in death by her father, Delmar. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, David; daughters: Suzanne (Bryan) Happell of Post Falls, and Julie (Scott) Bouchard; and grandchildren, Autumn and Gabriel, of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. She is also survived by her mother, Norma Baker, of Coeur d’Alene; brother, Jeff (Cindy) Leist, of Coeur d’Alene; and sister, Karen (Don) Tarr, of Hayden; and her niece and nephews: Steven Leist, Stacie (Stephen) Petroskie, and Christopher Tarr, as well as many others who will forever miss, and never forget, the joy she brought into their lives.
The family would also like to thank Northwest Oncology, Dr. Brian Samuels, and his dedicated staff, who helped us navigate this difficult journey. Denise’s strength and courage, along with their kindness and expertise, allowed her to win many of the battles she faced in the last 18 months. We would also like to thank Hospice of North Idaho for their care and compassion as her journey here ended. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in her memory to Northwest Oncology or Hospice of North Idaho, that they may continue to help other families as they helped ours.
Mom – We love you tons and bunches, and to the moon and back.
