A 55-year-old woman has been charged with felony deliberate homicide for allegedly murdering her boyfriend in Hungry Horse on Valentine’s Day.

Pamela Ruth Haines officially was charged on Tuesday, bringing the possibility of between 10 and 100 years or life in the Montana State Prison if she is convicted.

According to a court document in the case, Haines called 911 on Friday night to report she had shot her boyfriend at their 243 First Avenue North home.

Sheriff’s deputies found Thomas Eugene Edwards, 71, lying on the ground with a single, small-caliber gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After being taken to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, Haines allegedly admitted shooting Edwards.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said the shooting took place after the couple got into an argument, and that Haines did not have any injuries. He said the couple recently moved to Hungry Horse from California.
