Dogs fall short against Wildcats

The Whitefish boys basketball team was outscored in every quarter of their rematch with rival Columbia Falls on Saturday as the Wildcats rolled to a 74-52 victory at home.

Alex Presnell and Jared Trinastich scored 18 points each to pace the Wildcats.

Art Doorn scored 13 points to lead Whitefish. Keaton Nicholson added 11.

The loss dropped Whitefish to 4-3 in the league and 9-8 overall.

On Thursday, Whitefish picked up a 56-33 non-conference win over Plains. Doorn had 14 points to lead the winning effort.

The Dogs travel to Polson on Saturday for their final conference game before the Northwest A divisional tournament begins Feb. 27.

Doorn is the top scorer for Whitefish so far this season at 12.3 points per game.

Bulldog forward Garrett Anderson is the league’s top rebounder, averaging 10 boards per game. Senior guard EJ Havens has 61 assists this season, second-best in the league, while guard Alex Wilson has a league-best 53 steals.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue
