Wrestlers finish season at state

Whitefish finished 19th out of 22 teams at the Class A state wrestling tournament last week in Billings.
The Bulldogs were represented by eight wrestlers. Heavyweight Steven Qimby, 113-pounder James Buckely and 153-pounder Matthew Sampson each made it to the consolation quarterfinals.
In the second round of consolation, Buckley defeated Phillip Rising Sun of Hardin with a 12-3 decision. Sampson pinned Austin Pitsch Hardin at 1:30, and Quimby defeated Hunter Herbaugh of Glendive with a 5-4 decision.
In the first round of consolation, Judah Prestegaard defeated Austin Olsen of Dillon with a pin in 41 seconds.
Havre won the team title with 294.5 points. Sidney placed second with 268.5 points and Columbia Falls placed third.
