Classes start Aug. 27 in Kalispell schools

 A new calendar is in place for the 2014-15 school year for Kalispell Public Schools.

The first day of school will be Aug. 27 and the last day is June 10, 2015. Snow make-up days are June 11 and 12. Students will be in school for 180 days.

Winter break is scheduled from Dec. 23 through Jan. 2. Spring break will be March 30 through April 3.

Six early release days are planned for professional development to be decided at a later date. An additional early release is Dec. 12 for a speech and debate tournament.

Elementary schools will be in session from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the middle school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the high schools from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

The grading periods for kindergarten through eighth grade are:

The first trimester is Aug. 27 through Nov. 24; the second trimester is Nov. 25 through March 10 and the third trimester is March 11 through June 10.

At the high school level, the first quarter is Aug. 27 through Oct. 31 and the second quarter Nov. 3 through Jan. 22. The third quarter is Jan. 26 through March 23 and the fourth quarter is March 24 through June 10.

Dec. 22-Jan. 2 — Winter break, no school

Jan. 19 — Professional development trade off, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school

Jan. 23 — Professional development, no school

Feb. 16 — President’s Day, no school

March 30-April 3 — Spring break, no school

April 17 — Music festival, no school

May 25 — Memorial Day, no school

June 10 — Last day of school

June 11-12 — Snow make-up days
