POST FALLS - A Special Weapons and Tactics team of Post Falls Police arrested a homicide suspect on Saturday afternoon near E. White Sand Road and N. Revette.
According to Post Falls Police Chief Scot Haug, his SWAT team was assisting the U.S. Marshal's Office who tracked Christopher Olsen, 32, from Pierce County, Wash., where he is suspected of murdering someone last Sunday.
"We were able to take him into custody without incident," Haug said.
Olsen, who is originally from the Deer Park, Wash., area, was found in a friend's house in Post Falls.
"I think he just saw that as an opportunity to hide out," Haug said.
According to Haug, the evidence showed the friend was unaware of Olsen's wanted status, so the friend was not charged with anything.
Haug said Olsen has 15 convictions for past crimes, including violent crimes.
"He was a threat to the community," he said. "That was the reason for using the SWAT team, to get him into custody as quickly and safely as possible."
