EPHRATA - Moses Lake Christian Academy (2-5. 3-11) ended its season with a loss to Entiat (5-3, 11-10) in the Central Washington 1B district tournament at Ephrata High School.
The young Lions team, that has been forced to play multiple eighth graders throughout the season, was overmatched by an experienced Tiger team and fell, 65-36.
Entiat opened the game on a 14-2 run after forcing several MLCA turnovers to open the game. The Lions struggled offensively and trailed 19-9 after one quarter.
Entiat continued to blitz the Lions and began the second quarter on an 11-2 run. The Lion offense was stifled in the second quarter and Entiat extended its lead to 34-15 at halftime.
MLCA was never able to string together a run of baskets to cut into the deficit. However, junior Alex Naccarato was able to provide a bright spot for the Lions when his heave just inside the half court line at the third quarter buzzer banked in.
Naccarato scored a team-high 11 points.
With just over three minutes remaining in the game and the lead out of reach, head coach Duke Wood subbed out senior Spencer McNamara. McNamara was greeted with a hug from his coach as he left the court for the final time as a Lion.
McNamara finished with nine points and sophomore Noah Roberts added seven points.
When the final buzzer sounded Entiat was victorious, 65-34.
