PREP 1A BOYS: Knights take Game 1 of series

SPIRIT LAKE - Joe Brown finished with 21 points, Doug Schatz added 18 and the Lakeside Knights beat the the Wallace Miners 74-55 in Game 1 of a best-of-3 series on Monday night at Timberlake High School.
The two teams face off on Wednesday in Game 2 at Timberlake High at 7:30 p.m.
Brock Arthun led the Miners (13-7) with 19 points and Brady Brantley added 16.
The Knights (17-4) connected on 10 of 15 3-point attempts.
"We made nine 3's in the first half," Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. "That really kept us in the game.
"Wallace did play us pretty tough but we slowly pulled away and played some disciplined basketball."

SPIRIT LAKE - T.J. Plancencio scored 22 points to pace the Tigers past the Wampus Cats at Timberlake High.
Tyler Henderson had 18 points and Hunter Kotschevar added nine points. Mullan coach Dan Fritz said all three players had over 10 rebounds.
Mullan (6-9) will face No. 1 seed-Kootenai (8-10) on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to a state play-in game Saturday at St. Maries (loser out), against an opponent to be determined.

Coeur d'Alene Charter/St. Maries game postponed: The game between the Panthers and Lumberjacks set for Monday at Troy High was postponed due to travel conditions. The game was tentatively set for tonight at Kootenai High at 6 p.m.
