POST FALLS - A boyfriend-girlfriend duo accused of multiple model home thefts, not paying for hotel rooms and shoplifting were recently arrested in separate incidents.

Shawn A. Fortune, 29, Post Falls, was arrested by Post Falls Police on Monday after an anonymous tip was obtained that he was at a home on Laurelbrook Drive.

"We knocked on the door, Shawn answered and he was placed into custody," Post Falls Police Capt. Greg McLean said.

Jessica C. Olson, 33, Coeur d'Alene, was arrested by Coeur d'Alene Police last week.

"We just happened to come across her when looking into a totally different investigation," said Coeur d'Alene Police Sgt. Christie Wood.

Fortune is being held at the Kootenai County jail on a $25,000 bond and charges of grand theft and burglary. Olson is being held on a $50,000 bond for two counts of burglary.

"They've caused a lot of discontent for citizens and law enforcement for the past few months," McLean said.

Police said the two are suspects in crimes dating back to November, including multiple model home thefts.

On Dec. 2, a real estate agent reported someone had broken into a model home of Hallmark Homes at 4683 E. Kit Fox Lane. An estimated $10,000 worth of items were stolen, including a bedroom set, couch, end tables, a kitchen set, bar stools, lamps and real estate office items.

Detectives said a Hallmark employee recognized some of the items listed for sale on Craigslist that were posted by Fortune.

In another case, an employee at Super 1 Foods in Post Falls identified Fortune and Olson as shoplifting suspects for allegedly stealing $77 worth of items Jan. 6.

Police were called to Red Lion Templin's Hotel in Post Falls Jan. 14 for a report of unwanted people.

Two master key cards were missing from the maid staff and it was discovered that people had been staying in different rooms from Jan. 6 through Jan. 14, police said. The total cost for the rooms and services for those nights was $2,800. Hotel security identified Fortune and Olson as the suspects.

Fortune has been booked into the local jail 10 other times in the past 10 years, including on charges for possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended and probation violation.

Olson has been booked into the jail nine other times in the past eight years, including on charges for theft, battery, robbery and driving with an invalid driver's license.
