The Met: Live in HD series continues on the big screen with Borodin's operatic masterpiece “Prince Igor.” The acclaimed new production by director Dmitri Tcherniakov in his Met debut stars Ildar Abdrazakov as the heroic title character, a 12th-century ruler who defended Russia against invading Polovtsian forces.

Locally the operas will be shown at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center (1 one earlier than previous Saturday morning broadcasts) and at Stadium 14 Theaters in Kalispell, and again at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at Stadium 14.

Gianandrea Noseda, a specialist in Russian music, will conduct a new edition of the opera—left unfinished by Borodin at the time of his death in 1887—which has been specially created for the Met production. The cast also includes Ukrainian soprano Oksana Dyka in her Met debut as Igor's wife, Yaroslavna; Anita Rachvelishvili as the fiery Polovtsian princess Konchakovna; Russian tenor Sergey Semishkur in his Met debut as Igor's son, Vladimir Igorevich; Mikhail Petrenko as Yaroslavna's brother, Prince Galitsky; and Stefan Kocán as Khan Konchak, leader of the Polovtsian forces.

This season, The Met: Live in HD series will reach an audience of approximately 3 million people across 1,900 theaters in 64 countries, and offers subtitles in nine languages.

Run time is 4 hours and 30 minutes including two intermissions.

Tickets in Whitefish are available at the door for $20 for adults and $5 students (cash or check only).
