Ice skating, exercise on Parks and Recreation schedule

MOSES LAKE - Ice skating, fitness classes, basketball and soccer for toddlers, hockey for adults and tai chi for beginners are among the classes offered by Moses Lake Parks and Recreation, beginning next week.

Ice skating classes begin Monday and continue every Monday through Feb. 10 at the Larson Recreation Center ice rink, 610 South Yakima St. Classes are available for adults and children age 2 and older.

Classes are $45 per person, per session, skates not included, although skate rentals are available for $5. Each class is 30 minutes, with classes beginning at 4:30 p.m. and the last class at 7:25 p.m. Advance registration is encouraged.

Fitness "Boot Camp" for adults begins Monday, and is scheduled Monday and Wednesday through March 12. Classes are 5:15 to 6:15 a.m. at the Chief Moses Middle School gym.

Boot camp is $160 for 20 sessions. Allison Russell is the instructor.

Zumba classes for children and adults begin Tuesday. The children's class, for kids ages 4 to 12, from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. at Sage Point Elementary School, 4000 West Peninsula Dr. Classes are $36 per child per session, $30 for each sibling, with a maximum of 25 kids. CherriAnne Bickler is the instructor. Classes continue every Tuesday through Feb. 13.

Adult Zumba classes are from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Learning Center and continue through Feb. 11. Classes are $42 per person per session, with a three-person minimum. Karen Correia is the instructor.

Soccer Tot sessions begin Tuesday and Friday at the Learning Center, and last through the end of the month. Designed for children ages 2 to 5, they are taught in three sessions from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Cost is $35 per child per session, $30 per sibling per session. Jennifer Robertson is the instructor.

Hoopster Tots is for children ages 3 to 6, and is based on the same principle as Soccer Tots. Classes are each Wednesday in January, at 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. at the Learning Center. Robertson is the instructor. Cost is $35 per child, per session, $30 per session for each sibling.

Tai Chi classes begin Saturday and continue through March 15. Classes start at 8 and 9 a.m., depending on skill level, at the Learning Center. Cost is $50 per person. Rinnah Skoor is the instructor.

The monthly adult drop-in hockey game is from 8:15 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at the rec center. Cost is $7 per person, and full hockey equipment is required.
