School finalists to be interviewed next week

Five finalists for Kalispell Public Schools superintendent will be interviewed next week.

Interviews conducted by the school board will be Jan. 13 and 14 at the Kalispell Middle School library, 205 Northwest Lane. The interview sessions are open to the public.

Three candidates will be interviewed Monday, Jan. 13: 

— 5 p.m., Deborah Akers, a superintendent in Princeton, W. Va. 

— 6:30 p.m., Mark Flatau, a superintendent in Cle Elum, Wash.

— 8 p.m., Glenn Gelbrich, a superintendent in Juneau, Alaska.

The final two candidates will be interviewed Tuesday, Jan. 14:

— 5:30 p.m., Randy Cline, a superintendent from Frenchtown.

— 7 p.m., Thomas Moore, an assistant superintendent in Great Falls.

The day before the interviews, community members have the opportunity to meet candidates during a social gathering. The meet-and-greet session is Sunday, Jan. 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Museum at Central School, 124 Second Ave. E. in Kalispell.

Superintendent finalists were narrowed down from nine applicants. The position was advertised with a salary of $125,000, plus benefits, depending on experience.

Candidates are being considered to succeed Superintendent Darlene Schottle, who is resigning at the end of the school year on June 30.
