MOSES LAKE - Youths in 4-H, and kids interested in learning about 4-H programs, are being invited to Super Saturday, scheduled for Jan. 11 at Frontier Middle School. There will be information for adult volunteers and people interested in volunteering as well.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with information and demonstration workshops from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Pizza will be available for lunch; cost is $3.

Super Saturday is sponsored by WSU Grant-Adams Extension.

The first session will include information about 4-H and the options available. The second and third sessions explore some of those options.

Cooking and food preparation are covered in "Free food - fix it yourself," and "How many ways can you eat a pomegranate?" There's information about horses in the "Horsing around with hippology" class.

Science (including robotics and technology) is covered in the "science fun" class. There's a sewing class in making pillow cases and tote bags, and another that details the 4-H sewing and fashion program, from those pillow cases to the annual fashion review at the Grant County Fair.

There's a class in leathercraft, and another in 4-H art and crafting options, from photography to knitting.

Raising and showing livestock is a big part of 4-H, and the schedule includes a class in applying for 4-H livestock loans. There's also information about raising and showing poultry, and training in livestock quality assurance.

Part of the 4-H experience is the fair, wherever that fair is, and one of the classes details the steps to a "blue ribbon" educational display. The Grant County Fair has introduced online registration, and one of the classes will walk participants through the process.

Adult volunteers have their own class, and there's a separate meeting for 4-H horse club leaders.

People who want more information can download the schedule of events from the extension service website, www.grant-adams.wsu.edu/, or call the extension office at 509-754-2011, ext. 413.
