Thygesen was wearing her seat belt.

• Cd'A woman's identity stolen

COEUR d'ALENE - A Coeur d'Alene woman was the victim of an identity theft, and the thief might want to think about changing careers to voice acting.

The woman told Coeur d'Alene police that the Capital One fraud department notified her that a male called the bank claiming to be her. The suspect was able to convince an operator to change the phone number associated with the victim's bank account and also successfully changed the email address online.

The woman reported the incident Thursday, and told Coeur d'Alene police detectives that she was informed the suspect made a fraudulent transaction in Toronto for approximately $378.

• Storage unit theft reported

COEUR d'ALENE - More than $6,000 worth of tools was reported stolen from a Coeur d'Alene storage unit.

A resident told police Friday that he rents a unit from Skyview Mini Storage at 3655 N. Cedarblom St. and that sometime after April, someone broke into the unit and stole his tools.

According to a police incident report, the resident looked at the roll-up door and noticed the locking mechanism was cut from the door. The lock itself was not damaged.

Among the missing tools was a set of Craftsman sockets that the resident estimated was worth $5,000. Pliers, two chain saws and a Ryobi electric tool set were also reported stolen.

When asked by police why the resident had taken so long to report the burglary, he responded that he wanted to check local pawn shops to see if he could locate his property prior to contacting authorities.
