EPHRATA - The Moses Lake teen accused of shooting his parents last March plead not guilty Tuesday.

Nathon Brooks, 15, is facing two counts of first-degree attempted murder and a count of unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree in Grant County Superior Court.

He was originally charged in juvenile court, according to a previous Columbia Basin Herald article.

Prosecutors filed the adult charges against the boy earlier this week, following visiting Douglas County Superior Court Judge John Hotchkiss' decision the boy could be tried as an adult.

According to court documents, Brooks' bail was also lowered from $500,000 to $150,000. The teen would be allowed to live with grandparents in Coulee City, if released on bail.

Brooks allegedly took a .22 caliber pistol out of a locked gun case, loaded it and waited around 90 minutes before deciding to shoot his parents.

At the time, he reportedly told police his parents grounded him from video games and other electronic devices.

His parents survived the incident.

Brooks' trial could start on Feb. 26, according to court documents.
