Basketball roundup: Whitefish boys down Eureka

WHITEFISH — Balanced scoring carried Class A Whitefish (3-4 overall) to a 75-38 nonconference boys basketball victory over Class B Eureka on Friday evening.

Whitefish outscored Eureka 45-17 in the middle two quarters to put the issue to rest.

Art Doorn scored seven of his 15 points in Whitefish’s 23-point third period. EJ Havens also scored seven points in that quarter and finished with 12.

Keaton Nicholson added 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Garrett Anderson had 22 rebounds for Whitefish.

Colton Henrie was Eureka’s scoring leader with eight points.

BIGFORK — Christian Evans tossed in 23 points and Josh Sandry added 10 as Bigfork cruised to an easy District 7B victory over Troy.

Bigfork held a 13-1 edge after eight minutes of action and led 31-12 at the half.

Gabe Hickman topped Troy in scoring with nine points.

COLUMBIA FALLS — A fast start delivered an easy Northwestern A victory for Columbia Falls over Polson.

Columbia Falls (6-0, 2-0) jumped in front 25-6 and led 39-7 at intermission.

Haley Belgarde led a balance Wildkats attack with 14 points. Ciera Finberg and Cydney Finberg both added 11.

Winter Kemppainen led Columbia Falls on the boards with eight rebounds.

Skyla Krantz and Monika Frame both had four points for Polson.

“Very good balance,” Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

“The girls are sharing the ball and playing tremendous defense right now.”

Sarah Paolini tallied 22 points to power Stillwater Christian School to a home nonconference victory over North Idaho.

Stillwater (6-2) led 23-12 at the half.

Paolini also pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds.

Janelle Falk and Dani Stoner both had six rebounds for the Cougars.

Falk led in steals with six.

Paolini scored 26 points and had 12 rebounds and seven steals to lead Stillwater Christian over the Flathead junior varsity in a nonconference game on Tuesday night.

Janae Moon and Steph Wilson both scored six points to pace Flathead.
