Filing for county positions begins

Russell F. Bache, 62, is assisted by Deputy Clerk Robin Benson on Thursday as he filed to run for Lincoln County commissioner. Bache was among those to complete paperwork Thursday, the first day to so for a Lincoln County position. Bache, a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy, served in the military for 28 years. Bache is running for Libby commissioner, a position currently held by Tony Berget. Others filing Thursday include Tammy Lauer for clerk and recorder, elections administrator, surveyor, assessor and auditor; Roby Bowe for sheriff; Mark Peck for commissioner; Bernie Cassidy for county attorney; and Jay Sheffield for justice of the peace. Candidates seeking office have until March 10 to file for the Nov. 4 election.
