Griz defensive end Crittenden honored for perfect GPA

University of Montana defensive end Derek Crittenden of Whitefish has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Division 1 first team.

Recipients must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 grade point average.

Crittenden maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA and is a chemistry major, with hopes to attend medical school. Last season he received the President’s Award in football, given to the player with the highest GPA.

At 6-3, 240-pounds, Crittenden played in all 13 games for the 10-3 Grizzlies this past season. He was eighth on the team with 41 total tackles and has played in 24 consecutive games.

Crittenden had a 4.0 GPA at Whitefish High School, and was a member of the National Honor Society and served as class valedictorian.
