MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake girls bowling is hitting its stride at just the right time.

The Chiefs have won six out of their last seven matches, including a two-match winning streak. In the last home match of the year, the Chiefs dominated Eisenhower en route to a 4-0 win.

Moses Lake is now locked into second place in the Columbia Basin Big 9 at 5-2 and boasts an overall record of 9-2.

"Team-wise right now this is great bowling," head coach Billy Brice said.

The Chiefs started strong against the Cadets with four bowlers scoring over 170 pins and Moses Lake was able to take game one, 855-754

Brice's team has set a goal to average at least 850 pins each game for the final three matches and so far the Chiefs have been right around that number.

Senior Kayla Enriquez and sophomore Kim Mulder led the way with 194 and 185 pins, respectively.

"The girls really have to be on there game to stay up in those 800 categories," Brice said. "I think they can do it. Individually, we have some good games and bad games but team-wise is the main thing. They're really clicking pretty good right now."

Junior Ashleigh Hash added 183 pins and senior Kayla Steffler bowled a 175.

Moses Lake continued to dominate in the second game defeating the Cadets, 858-733.

Once again, Mulder and Enriquez led the team with 434 pins combined. The Chiefs took both Baker games to complete the 4-0 sweep of Eisenhower.

Moses Lake's regular season finale is Jan. 16 against Davis in Yakima. The Pirates have yet to win a Big 9 match.

The district tournament is scheduled to begin Jan. 28 and Brice likes his team's chances.

"We have a great opportunity to go deep, hopefully," he said. "It doesn't matter how good you're bowling once you get to the district level one team goes on and that's whoever bowls the best that day moves on so it's going to be a crapshoot."
