COLUMN: Bones to pick with Jimmy

I see Jimmy Pappas is at it again, spewing his usual hatred and venom on those with opinions different from his. A few comments:

PPACA was reaffirmed by Obama’s second election. Really? Isn’t Jimmy reading all the news? Middle class people have already paid their fair share in taxes. I didn’t know Jimmy had been appointed to officially decide everyone’s fair share.

Millions of wealthy, dead-beat free riders. Some supporting data please. SS became one of the most successful programs ever. Akin to saying Joe Schlabodnik is the tallest man in the room but neglecting to point out that the room is full of midgets.

SS should not have been privatized proven by the stock market crash. Akin to saying don’t fly because an airliner crashed. Also ignores the fact that the option to use the original Ponzi scheme was always permitted.

PPACA will save precious lives. So will firefighters carrying people out of a burning building, but let’s not forget those left behind.

There’s lots more, but the above should reveal Jimmy’s love of half truths and opinions presented as hard facts. And don’t overlook the ad hominem attacks and vicious hatred always sprinkled throughout his writings.

Jimmy is right about the head man of my religion but, again, ignores the fact that practically everyone in the media misinterprets everything the Pope says. He is neither Marxist nor socialist nor is he anti-capitalist. Capitalism has its faults and abusers but so does any and every system ever devised, and he recognizes that. He often prefers not to sing praises but to point out flaws and encourage their correction.

Just a few thoughts from Phil (cheap-seats) Membury. (I’m still trying to figure that one out.)
