More than 900 calls but no murders

MATTAWA - There were 953 calls for service performed by the Mattawa Police Department in 2013, and not a single one involved murder.
However, Police Chief John Turley's year-end report shows there were 29 calls for theft, 13 for assault, five for domestic violence, three for burglary and one for robbery. There were 123 assists of other police agencies.
Turley said the number of calls is about normal for Mattawa for one year. He added that they generated only 48 arrests.
The calls were well spread throughout the department. Officer Tony Valdivia had 238, Officer Thomas Williams had 206, Officer Michael Stump had 146 and Turley had 100. Department Clerk Maybelline Pantaleon had 14 and reserve Officer Nick Trejo had 16.
