Scott helps Timberlake triumph at Kellogg

KELLOGG - Keegan Scott scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Timberlake Tigers past the Kellogg Wildcats 58-43 in an Intermountain League game on Saturday night at Andrews Gymnasium.

"We had a big second quarter," Timberlake coach Tony Hanna said. "Austin Allen hit two 3s and we had lots of guys knocking down shots. In the second half, it was pretty even. Keegan guarded Jesse Lambert and held him to three points, so we're real proud of the defensive effort."

Scott scored 10 of his points in the second quarter, when the Tigers outscored the Wildcats, 23-10.

Austin Allen scored 12 points and Mason Cramer 11 points for Timberlake (3-8, 2-0 IML), which has won three straight after losing its first eight games of the season.

Tucker Gust had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Kellogg (4-3, 1-1), which shot 8 of 18 from the free throw line.

"We didn't play very well," Kellogg coach Jeff Lambert said.

On Tuesday, Timberlake hosts Newport and Kellogg is at Sandpoint.

ST. MARIES - Cody Posselt scored 19 points, including 3 of 4 from beyond the 3-point line to lead the Lumberjacks past the Maniacs in a Central Idaho League game.

"It was good to get a win league," St. Maries coach John Bisson said. "It's very important because it's going to be tougher and more competitive this year. We're looking to start as well as we can. Orofino is a tough opponent and a good, physical team that plays good defense."

Leighton Gjerte had nine rebounds, Dillon Michael five assists and Logan Feasline 11 points for St. Maries (3-3, 1-1 CIL), which hosts Moscow on Thursday.

Orofino is 4-4, 0-1.

EDWALL, Wash. - Christian Center School had an opportunity to win or tie the Mountain Christian League game, but lost in the last few seconds to host Christian Heritage School.

In the closing seconds, Drew Hansen hit a 3-pointer to pull CCS within 43-42. Hansen fouled Jacob Rossex and Rossex hit one free throw for the 44-42 lead. Christian Center School turned the ball over in the backcourt in the closing seconds.

Christian Center Noah Howard had nine rebounds. Jordan Harryman had four blocks.

Dylan Herron scored 24 points for Christian Heritage.

Christian Center plays Genesis Prep on Tuesday at the HUB Sports Center in Liberty Lake.
