• Prince to appear on Fox's 'New Girl'
PASADENA, Calif. - Fox's post-Super Bowl party will include Prince making a guest appearance on the comedy "New Girl."
In an episode of the show that will air directly after the big game next month, Zooey Deschanel's character is invited to a mansion party hosted by Prince - a party her friends are determined to crash.
Fox will also air an episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" that night after "New Girl," with the show fresh off its Golden Globe award for best comedy.
The Super Bowl is traditionally the most-watched TV event of the year, so the time slots after it are considered prime real estate.
• Stars of 'The Following' admit to nightmares
PASADENA, Calif. - Anyone who gets nightmares from Fox's creepy thriller "The Following" isn't alone. The two stars say it happens to them, too.
Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy both said Monday they take work home with them sometimes. Bacon plays former FBI agent Ryan Hardy, who's on the trail of a sadistic serial killer played by Purefoy in the series, which attracted attention for violence in its debut season but also had strong ratings. "The Following" returns for its second season on Sunday.
"He's so profoundly dark," Purefoy said of his character, Joe Carroll. "Anybody who celebrates death and finds great beauty in it, absolutely, there are some fretful nights."
Jessica Stroup, who plays a police officer, said there was something so disturbing that happens to her character this season that it was hard to shake.
She can sleep soundly, but she's looking at her surroundings more carefully while awake, she said.
Series creator Kevin Williamson, the man behind the "Scream" movies, said he finds the second season less violent than the first, at least by his standards. The first episode contains a violent incident on a subway by a character in a creepy mask.
"I don't want it to be gore for the sake of gore," Williamson said. "It is to push the story forward and to make you gasp, to scare you.
"I don't really see it as gory," he said. "I guess it's subjective. I like a little violence."
The veteran Bacon, who has had so many roles in his career that it inspired its own parlor game, said there's something special about this one.
"The connection I feel to the fans of this show is probably deeper than anything that I've experienced in my career," he said.
• Neighbor accuses Justin Bieber of egging home
LOS ANGELES - Sheriff's deputies are investigating Justin Bieber for yet another dispute with a neighbor that could land him in court.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says Bieber has been named as a suspect in a misdemeanor vandalism and assault crime report for allegedly throwing eggs at a neighbor's home in their gated Calabasas neighborhood Thursday evening.
The 19-year-old pop star allegedly egged the house while his neighbor and neighbor's daughter were on the balcony. Whitmore says the two videotaped the incident.
In October, prosecutors declined to charge Bieber after a neighbor complained he drove recklessly through the area.
