ROYAL CITY - Law enforcement is still trying to find Monica Helberg, the 16-year-old Royal City girl who has been missing since Wednesday.
The sheriff's office confirmed Miles "Logan" Moncada, 22, who is likely with Helberg, was seen Saturday night at a motel in Albuquerque, NM.
Helberg and Moncada had been in a relationship and knew each other for several years, according to investigators.
Police went to the motel and found the room vacant and black hair dye and disposable razors in the room. It is likely one or both have changed their appearance. Helberg was not seen at the motel.
The two are likely traveling in a yellow 2014 Ford Focus with Washington plates ANR8440, possibly en route to Texas were Moncada has family, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators have found no obvious evidence Helberg was abducted, but because family and police haven't had any direct contact with her, they are concerned about the girl. Her family believes she may have been taken by Moncada and may be in danger. She reportedly left without her asthma medication and personal belongings, according to the sheriff's office.
"We all concerned about Monica's safety and her family wants her to come home," Sheriff Tom Jones said. "At a minimum, we hope she calls home to talk to her parents to let them know she is okay but certainly having her back home is what we all hope for."
Helberg's family has set up a Facebook page and has been sharing information at www.facebook.com/monicafind.
