COEUR d'ALENE - Lake City Community Church is hosting the Great Outdoors Event again this year, and it will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The guest speaker is Charlie Decker, co-founder of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

"Charlie has been instrumental in raising the foundation's profile from that of a regional organization to an international one," said Deb Ayers, a representative of Lake City.

The foundation helps to educate people and bring about hunting opportunities.

Also at this year's event, Phil Cooper, a wildlife conservation educator from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, will conduct a demonstration on scoring antlers.

Come hungry, too. There will be moose chili and cornbread, Ayers said.

There will be raffles and prizes, too, including a firearm raffled by the National Rifle Association.

Ayers said almost 500 men attended last year's event.

The event will be at Lake City Community Church at 6000 N. Ramsey Road.

Tickets are $5 each. They are available for purchase at Black Sheep Sporting Goods, Michael D's Eatery, Le Peep Cafe, Hoffman Boots, Meltz Extreme Grilled Cheese and Lake City Community Church.
