SANDPOINT - Sandpoint hunter Amanda Lowrey has been declared the winner of the 2014 Extreme Huntress contest.

"It's hard to summon the right words for the feeling you get when 8 months of hard work comes to a close. I am so honored to have competed alongside 3 other AMAZING women whom I am so proud to call dear friends," Lowrey said in a Facebook post.

Lowrey was one of four contest finalists following prior online voting and her judged performance during a head-to-head hunting skills competition in Hondo, Texas, last summer.

Lowrey was third place in the online vote last November, when a final round of public voting commenced.

In announcing her win, Lowrey expressed her gratitude to God and thanked her husband, children and the supporters she picked up since the contest began last year.

"You are my rock, and my motivation to continue pressing on," she said in her Friday Facebook post.

Lowrey followed that post with another indicating she had a "million" other people to thank, in addition to business contracts to follow up with.

On Monday, Lowrey announced she will be heading to this weekend's Shooting, Hunting Outdoor Trade Show at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. She will be there with Heartland Pro Camo, which is debuting a new camouflage pattern and seeking input from other female hunters about what they would like to see in Heartland's ladies designs.
