• Great Floors promotes Nelson

Great Floors announced the promotion of Mike Nelson to the position of Vice President Commercial Sales. Nelson, a 20-year veteran of the floor covering industry, will lead the company's commercial units in Seattle and Spokane, as well as oversee commercial sales for the 15 retail Great Floors showrooms in Washington and Idaho.

He most recently headed the Great Floors builder division from the Company's corporate headquarters in Coeur d'Alene. Nelson began his flooring career working in the warehouse advancing to management in 2000, managing the Bellingham, Bellevue and Burlington showrooms prior to being named Vice President of Builder Sales in 2013.

He is 1999 graduate of Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash., with a degree in Business Administration and a finance major.

• Cunningham joins Council board

Dennis Cunningham, president/owner of ActiveWest Builders, has been appointed as a board Trustee of the National Association of Home Builders, 50+ Housing Council Board of Trustees.

The 50+ Housing Council is the voice of the 50 and older housing industry, and a leading source of information and research on the active adult, independent living, service-enriched, and assisted-living markets.

NAHB is a housing industry trade association based in Washington, D.C.

ActiveWest is the developer/builder of the 55 and older active adult community, Meadow Ranch, in Coeur d'Alene.

Cunningham also serves as Second Vice President for the North Idaho Building Contractors Association, and chair of the NIBCA Green Committee.

• Handeen joins Lakeshore Realty

Lakeshore Realty announced the addition of Bjorn Handeen to its sales team. Handeen was born in St. Paul, Minn. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Metropolitan State University.

"Bjorn believes that a wisely chosen home is a family's most important key to a sustainable future, and Bjorn is eager to help families find a home that provides protection and security," states a press release.

• Cd'A Resort promotes Brekke

Formerly the Small Group Sales Manager, Sonja Brekke has accepted the National Sales Manager position at the Coeur d'Alene Resort. Brekke will be tasked with managing the central and southern Idaho region, as well as tour bus groups. Her new role will also include meeting and event sales of 20-plus guest rooms per night.

Brekke started her career with the Coeur d'Alene Resort as a barista in the Lobby Cafe in 2006. Upon completing her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, Brekke was promoted to the Wedding Department in 2009, and to Sales in 2011.

Brekke is a native of Alaska, but states, "After moving here in 2004, I fell in love with the area and never left."

She is active in the community, volunteering her time to various health organizations.
