LEWISTON - Tyrel Derrick had 26 points, nine assists and six steals for the Lakeland Hawks, who shot 8 of 18 from beyond the 3-point line in a 63-47 nonleague win against the Lewiston Bengals on Saturday night at Booth Hall.

"It was a good one for us," Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. "We shot the ball really well and that helps. We played pretty good defense and we were able to force 15 turnovers and got some breakaways out of it."

Derek Bayley had 14 points and five rebounds for Lakeland (7-5), which travels to Sandpoint on Thursday in a 4A Inland Empire League game.

MOSCOW - Jeremiah Gagnon scored a team-high 17 points to lead Sandpoint, but poor free throw shooting proved costly, as the Bulldogs lost to the Bears in a 4A Inland Empire Leaguegame at Bear Den.

Gagnon has averaged 25 points a game over the past four outings, but early foul trouble led to a six-point second quarter for the Bulldogs (7-6, 0-1 4A IEL), who shot just 18 of 32 from the line.

"We got in foul trouble early and had to grind it out until half," Sandpoint coach Tyler Haynes said. "They played extremely hard. We had a big run to cut it back to one. That's a tough thing to do in the Bear Den."

Adam Gresch scored 21 points to lead the Bears (5-6, 2-0).

Sandpoint hosts Lewiston on Monday, with tipoff at 4:30 p.m. at Les Rogers Court.
